In 2009, after completing a Bachelor of Physical Education in Physical Activity and Sport Performance at the University of Alberta and obtaining an Advanced Certificate of Athletic Therapy from Mount Royal University, I certified as an Athletic Therapist through the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association.
I found Athletic Therapy through being an injury prone young athlete who idolized Steve Yzerman. Following the path of his injuries, and many other professional athletes like him, I found the value of detailed manual therapy and an active rehabilitation program and never looked back.
Throughout my years as a student, and certified therapist, I have worked as a team therapist in men’s college hockey, the Alberta Junior Hockey League, the Canadian Junior Football League, Alberta Soccer, and travelled with both the Junior and Senior National Taekwondo teams on an international level. Working a Professional Bull Riding finals event, and many rodeo riding schools will always be a highlight for me. I have also been lucky enough to be a part of fitness testing with Canada Rugby, the Edmonton Eskimos and Edmonton Oilers.
As a mother of two young boys, I've given up travelling with teams, but my love of creating pain free lifestyles for my clients remains the same as it was for my teams, and every client is treated like I would my professional athletes.
Some of the treatment techniques I employ include:
● Manual Therapy & Active Rehabilitation.
● Graston Technique.
● Muscle Energy Technique.
● Soft Tissue Release Technique.
● Myofascial Release & Mobilisation.
● Functional Movement Screens.
● Return to Activity & Concussion Return to Play protocols.
